Boy who accidentally shot hiker pleads not guilty | Seattle Times Newspaper

From the Times: " The teen and his 17-year-old brother, who live in Concrete, were hunting by themselves on Sauk Mountain when they saw a "black outline" on the trail about 100 yards ahead of them, according to court documents. The younger boy said, "It's a bear, it's a bear," and, "I've got my cross hairs on it," court documents alleged. " He admits he shot and struck what he was aiming at. He admits his target was in fact a woman and not a bear. But he pleads not guilty? One woman is dead. Two families are forever changed. And hunting as a sport has a huge black eye in a state that leans away from hook and bullet issues anyway. There are no happy endings in this story, but this boy seems to just keep making decisions that turn a bad situation worse.
