Skier killed in Wasatch avalanche

The snowpack is just geting started, but already a skier is dead as a result of an avalanche. A 27-year-old women from Salt Lake City was swept up in an avalanche near Utah's Snowbird resort on Sunday. The woman, Heather Gross, was found alive but unconscious shortly after being buried. Her ski partners found her using probes but she never regained consciousness during the helicopter evacuation to a SLC hospital. Snowbird had just opened the remote section of the resort the same day and ski patro crews and performed avalanche control that morning, but heavy snowfall reloaded the slopes during the morning.
